Oh no! Not the cartoon child porn!

You laugh, but it's a pattern I've noticed.

Happened on reddit. Happened on rumpus... rumble whatever, that other reddit clone that imploded. Happened on gab. Happened on Discord.

Admittedly there are exceptions. Twitter still allows lolicon but censors everything else. Perhaps the more important point is that as soon a site starts censoring one thing, the door's wide open to censor more, and they usually do.

This site, which doesn't even allow any porn, is obviously off to a bad start. I haven't seen too much censorship, but maybe they just hide it better. Censors of any kind can't be trusted.

Not allowing porn outright is the smart move. If you allow it eventually someone will do something wildly illegal and horribly controversial that will get you the unwanted attention and subsequent censorious attitudes you want to avoid.

So... censor to avoid censorship. Have a funny-doot, good one.

Happened on gab.

Maybe because they don't want porn there, just like the policy on this site. But do they practice political censorship?

Nah, this site at least says they only made the policy for pragmatic reasons. The Gab guy is completely off the deep end about it. Thinks it's made by demons or some junk.

But anyway, nobody admits to political censorship. They always say it for harassment, inciting violence or something, no matter how hard they have to stretch the truth to call it that.
