We are beyond parody, beyond satire. This is a headline from The Onion.

Wow!

Slightly misleading, Ebay is removing the listing rather than banning the sellers.

But, people shouldn't be able to buy books because someone has deemed them offensive or hurt someones feelings?

...

Gee I feel so "protected", as in "protected" from thinking for myself!

There's a lot more violence in the Bible than in Dr. Seuss. Are eBay going to ditch that? Shakespeare, a lot more violence and refs. to racism in that than in Dr. Seuss. Are they going to remove listings of Othello?

That is ultimately where this will go, and these are just small steps to set the table.

You can't have one religion which has a moral philosophy based on everyone is a sinner, that anyone regardless of whatever they've done can be saved, and that homosexuality and transgenderism is bad as some of the core frameworks.

This competing religion cannot let the other stand. It not only perverts, but it attacks with violent hostility the core ideas of the other such as that anyone can be saved, that there is something beyond this simple flesh, and that there are simple truths like He made them man and woman. This is atheism and moral relativism put forward through statism.

The govt and the in group determines your sin from your birth race or class or belief system. They determine what you must do for salvation and sanctification, such as pay homage to climate change or anti NRA groups. They persuade them to throw their children to Molech under it's current name of planned parenthood, which like transgenderism, attempts to mock God with it's name planned parenthood. They determine who gets saved, once you start your repentance.

Orange man bad isn't there any longer, so they can't go as fast as they once did, but this is about moving the Overton window and acceptability. Looking at the push back on the socials, I'd say they could've went further.

Disallowing the book about the only black conservative supreme court justice while telling you that Dr Seuss is racist are the initial steps from companies like eBay and Amazon, not the end goal.. it's the beginning..

My husband buys and sells collectibles. He thinks now would be a good time to buy up all the offensive Dr. Seuss books as an investment, as they will surely only increase in value. Already all the "offensive" "colored-boy" collectibles are hot-selling items.

Not misleading. It's just semantics. Just like smoking is "banned" on an airplane. You can still light up a cigarette on an airplane (for at least 15 seconds maybe).

[–]fred_red_beans 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yea, semantics could be argued. I suppose I think of "banned" generally referring to an individual or company being banned rather than just one activity.

In case you haven't been paying attention, it's the hardcore lefties screaming about "Nazis" that are the only ones in our society participating in Nazi-like behavior

[–]tootie 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You still haven't figured out that the people who judge everyone by race, want to ban guns and implement socialism are the nazis? Oh but they call other people nazis, so they couldn't possibly be!

these book burnings are one reason why copyright is fascism

Dr. Seuss has been dead for 30 years. Copyright isn't protecting him.

Craigslist. Fuck ebay! The future is decentralized!

    [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I do think it's similar to how they want to ban memes, memes such as pictures are easy for the masses to understand, a Dr Seuss is easy for a kid to understand. No one is going to read Mein Kampf or Farrakhan, not the great unwashed stupid masses anyway.

eBay REMOVES listings for canceled Dr Seuss books 'because they glorify violence' but allows copies of Mein Kampf and Louis Farrakhan's books to be sold

The guy in the comic is arguing that they allow laptops yet they could give far more yield than a water-bottle sized device, thinking they will see the error and unban bottles. But they see it as a reason to ban even more.

    [–]Drcolossus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If you look the books up you will see that they can all still be purchased on ebay. I bit pricey for my tastes but "If I ran the zoo" and "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street" are up for grabs if anyone is interested.
