Anyone followed this controversy? It's an excellent illustration of the "cancel culture" mania in society, the deep slavering hunger people have to have a platform of "moral authority" from which to shriek and point a finger. People take such glee in their outrage. Where is the critical thinking?
The "issue" is that the singer Sia made a film about a severely autistic girl.
The woke mob is apoplectic with rage because an autistic girl wasn't cast in the role. It's fiction! Actors are cast to portray people with conditions or circumstances the actor doesn't have all the time. Further: the role is of a severely autistic girl who can barely communicate. If they cast someone that autistic she wouldn't be able to follow the direction as well as a non-autistic actress. Nor would she be able to do the complex dance numbers that the actress with a dance background was required to do.
Posting this in "censorship" as I consider woke outrage a form of censorship!
This is not the most important issue but it is annoying.
