there is something fishy going on here. They are isolating australia, and making out it is for some political reason.

In the meantime, locked down and isolated communities lose the ability to communicate with the outside world.

What are they planning?

Food for thought:

Ever play Risk? Australia is pretty isolated already. Enforce a communication isolation and you effectively have a totally isolated society.

Also of interest: Australia is relatively close to the US in policy. They are a bit more liberal in some areas, notably in that they have already disarmed their population. A few articles lately indicated their willingness to use state control over their people (see: drones over wilderness to enforce COVID, arresting protesters). If there was any major conspiracy, especially one designed for the US or globally, Australia is a perfect place for any test runs.

I thought it was going to be NZ that ran with it, but then they locked down melbourne hard, and i think you are right. They've got a petri dish to trial the worst of it. Aussie is already far down the green energy road too, blowing up power stations and then ending up with week long blackouts when the solar and wind fails. The rural to city ratio is quite low, too, with the farmers being driven out of farms by overseas sales and deliberate droughts,

time will tell.
