I saw a feminist just yesterday saying "of course everyone has a human right to be protected from hate speech but ..." and I was like "wtf, no they don't."

Hate speech didn't even exist in the West until a few decades ago and now it's consider a human right to lock people up for it? Crazy. People really need to examine their assumptions about this suff. Hate speech laws always been used to silence political opponents and dissidents. That's not something they've just discovered, it's built in to the concept.

It's also just a ridiculously obvious Orwellian newspeak propaganda term... "Hate speech". It's really not so far from "wrongthink". It's so weird how society has fallen for it. That's the power of fear I suppose

The whole point is to make it easy to lock up people who say things that are inconvenient to people in power.

Wasn't a thing here in the US until the Obama administration. The internet used to be full of people freely saying "retard", "faggot", and "nigger", and no one gave a shit. Even in real life, people used pejoratives more freely.

      "Uneasy"

      Well that's a proportionate reaction.

Thanks, lawyers of the UK, a load of good you are.

That's a big problem in UK government, they employ hundreds of people to push for everyone to be more and more protected but not one person to argue for personal freedom or protection from the government. They have a lawyers to see if things can get snuck pass human rights laws and that's it.

And they are already talking about forcing amazon to spy on people through Alexas so this is already well ahead in the planning stages.
