Hong Kong considers themselves separate from China, and a lot of people from Hong Kong hate China. That matters especially in this context, where you have the study's author accusing China of manufacturing the virus. I was taking him at his word that this person was a doctor (i.e. not a scientist), but I shouldn't have made that assumption.

This is why nobody takes you I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE!!1! people seriously. You guys just cloak yourselves in appeals to authority and cherry pick the fuck out your examples.

There have already been many separate studies into the origins of SARS-CoV-2 and they all show no evidence that it was made in a lab. You have this one isolated study that contradicts the others and is suggesting a conspiracy, and it came from a group that has never released a study before and chaired by Steve Bannon. In acting like this is supposed to be compelling despite all the other evidence on the subject, the one doing the cherry picking is you.

Again, she's Chinese. I also find it a little ironic that the second it's Hong Kong "science" accusing the Chinese (of which they both are) of doing something then suddenly you have no problem grasping the idea that there might be corruption. I find that very charming.

Again, I love love love how you keep pivoting to "Oh well my study says". She's a whistleblower, not a study. You're so desperate to tie to this Bannon because you guys are obsessed with appeals to authority. I know you want to keep this dishonest autistic lens fastened to your face because you want to win some internet points but please try to think for yourself in a slightly abstract way.

Nice lazy strawman there bro.

She's a whistleblower, not a study.

Oh really? She was part of the team that made this? Or was she a member of the CCP that knew about it?

Hit a little close to home, didnit?

The moment the Science!TM goes against you corruption is totally valid but the second it's not the narrative is to believed or you're Alex Jones-level conspiracy theorists.

Oh really? She was part of the team that made this? Or was she a member of the CCP that knew about it?

Nah, she's definitely just staking her name and her career to sell some book about her uncles presidency. It's not like she's living in an authoritarian hellscape of a country or anything. She's defs just doing it for the Twitter clout. Just wait, she'll be out with a memoir soon and do all the morning talk shows. You nailed it.

Nice deflection on the point that she is not in fact a whistleblower like you claimed. Also, you seem to have a short-term memory, so I will remind you: The theory that it could be man made was proposed several months ago, and there have already been several studies investigating the origins of SARS-CoV-2, and they all concluded that it isn't man made. This "study" doesn't override those without compelling evidence. That's not how science works.

You're right. There's always one approved answer and scientists always agree on that fact. If you disagree with that narrative you're not apart of Science!TM It's totally black and white. That's how science works.

Well in this case there is only one correct answer to the question of whether SARS-CoV-2 was made in a lab or not. And we've got one study from a political org that says it was and several studies from more neutral orgs that say it wasn't. Sorry that you're upset that facts and logic and the weight of the evidence actually matter to some people.
