I think you need to look into that further. AFAIK reputable sources say that never happened, it was anti-Chinese Western propaganda. I could be wrong but that's what I recall.

Yeah, I read this 6 months ago in the context of Western propaganda, it was a long story about "official" bullshit, nothing to do with Hong Kong.
