I disagree. kim4432's comment there is at least a contradiction.

If the sub bans ideological opponents it needs to take itself off of /all and state that in the sidebar, in accordance with mod rule 4b. /u/VantaFount and /u/magnora7 do you have comments? This will likely continue to be an ongoing issue on SaidIt and this sort of thing is what SaidIt's policies were meant to prevent, no? I feel bad pinging you but you are the only ones who can act as administrators and maintain site policy. Is there a better way to deal with these issues?

So you're proposing I ban about half the comments on saidit? Not going to happen. We enforce the rules the way we do for a reason.

I think that /s/altUnitedKingdom is taking moderation actions that are in violation of SaidIt's stated rules.

I think they are not in compliance with sub rule 4b (as are several subs that have been removing opposing comments that do not drag the discussion down the pyramid of debate). I think it's a bit of an ongoing problem, and it doesn't seem to be getting addressed. Maybe more admins are needed? Idk. That's what I meant about it being a larger problem, there are several subs that don't seem to be complying with the stated rules and surely the problem will only grow as SaidIt does, new mods arrive not understanding the differences from reddit, etc.

It seemed like an important rule to help keep SaidIt from going the way of reddit censorship, I assume that's why the rule was written.

I think an admin needs to look at /s/altunitedkingdom and determine if they are in compliance with saidit policy. And if they are not, take whatever action admins deem necessary based on how they want to run the site.

It seemed like an important enough issue, that's why I pinged the admins.

Okay I will take a look at this issue and keep an eye on the sub. Thanks for pointing it out.

Another sub /s/PinkPillFeminism has this same problem: they may be off /s/all but similarly to /s/altUnitedKingdom there is no note in the sidebar stating that opposing opinions are removed (as per mod rule 4b)

    as noted here: /s/SaidIt/comments/56ow/its_been_two_days_can_we_get_an_update_on_the/jpt8

They're already off of /all so the issue is resolved.

Can you just enjoy the site more instead of playing content cop all the time please? I appreciate the help, but these things are being taken care of.

It matters to me that the site rules reflect what's actually being enforced.

From my perspective it appears as if it's not being taken care of. I already didn't message earlier regarding PPF because I didn't want to bother, but then there wasn't a reply so it seemed like it wasn't being taken care of so I messaged.

    Thanks for your concern.

Whelp, that didn't take long. Admins are already taking the side of moderators who don't follow the mods rules.

Magnora7 it will get ridiculous trying to enforce the rules you have as the site grows. You need to fix the site structurally so you don't need to do that. I say let people have their own rules and make moderation optional. Start by just having a button to disable moderation and reveal posts and comments.

What you're advocating will turn this place in to voat

    [–]theoracle 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No I don't agree. It would be voat plus reddit. Remember all the people from voat were once on reddit and probably still are. It is just they have been forced to only post one way on one platform and another on others. What I am suggesting is to let everyone coexist.

What you are saying actually is you don't like all free speech or allowing people to choose what they see. That's fine magnora7, but mark my words the platform that does allows the most freedom in both areas, speech and choice, will be the most successful. Currently that is ruqqus.

If you want to argue the societal benefit to my proposed system I would say it reduces the barriers between people. As it is now if someone wants to post like on voat they have to go to voat and the echo camber there is reinforcing and likely further radicalizing.

I will also say that those against freedom have proven on the wrong side of history. America was once much more free, and much less woke and fought against some of the biggest aholes in history and won. Currently the biggest ahole is the CCP and they own reddit. Remember it was 4chan that exposed them and their virus. How free is 4chan?
