--Chinese investors give them a shitload of money, with strings attached

--site owners go nuts with power, start banning subs left and right to appease their overlords

--people leave in droves to other sites

--rinse and repeat.

decline to sell out / take the gift / take the bribe, you (freedom) (no strings) are worth a lot more.
