One would hope that this is the death of Facebook.

Zuckerberg says Facebook must stand up for free speech

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company’s upcoming steps to protect free expression are “going to piss off a lot of people.”

“The last thing I want is for our products to be used to divide people or rip society apart in any kind of way,” said Zuckerberg. “But at some point, we’ve got to stand up and say, ‘No, we’re going to stand for free expression.’ Yeah, we’re going to take down the content that’s really harmful, but the line needs to be held at some point.”

Zuckerberg said that Facebook had used artificial intelligence and other tactics to try and detect and get rid of content that promotes terrorism and child trafficking or inciting violence.

But he said Facebook has to draw a line about what constitutes censorship.

“Increasingly, we’re getting called in to censor a lot of different kinds of content that makes me really uncomfortable,” Zuckerberg said. “It kind of feels like the list of things that you’re not allowed to say socially keeps on growing ... And I’m not really OK with that.”

What a faggot.

And by faggot, I mean the kindling used to burn witches.

Is this discourse allowed?

I think the author of this article jumps to an erroneous conclusion based on a few innocuous comments by Zuckerberg.

By asking for clarity on government's expectation, won't that force them to debate what exactly is acceptable censorship? Better that than governments simply criticizing and threatening social media over comments of others which they should not be responsible. And it's a business reality that Facebook has to deal with these governments, who pressure them to serve as their censor.

I don't know much about Zuckerberg nor do I use Facebook, but I appreciate his stance against censorship. He says he's uncomfortable with the ever-growing list of forbidden words — I am, too.

Zuckerberg probably deserves more credit for resisting government and the politically-correct.
