I'm surprised more cloudflare alternatives aren't popping up

https://alternativeto.net/software/jsdelivr/

check this out? this is supposed to be a free and open source Cloudflare alternative.

I use alternativeto.net whenever I want to find an alternative (obviously enough) to any monopoly. so far I was successful in finding Saidit, Poal and Voat (Reddit alternatives), Riot (voice and text chat, a Discord alternative), Jitsi (web-based Skype alternative) Metager and Qwant (Google alternatives), and last but not least Criticker (IMDB and Bestsimilar alternative, a review and recommendation type website, alternatively freemium and closed source), qBittorrentDark (for me a miuTorrent alternative).

there's also a movie-map.com, a movie recommendation site I found through a search engine.

Pleroma and Mastodon are ok alternatives to Twitter. some instances like FSE have zero censorship in my opinion.

unfortunately there are no good Pornhub alternative (so if a video is deleted due to a copyright violation, then it's deleted, period, no recovering it unless a user has saved it on their PC in time. if there was a torrent-type porn website it would improve my life a lot. but oh well.) a free and open source VPN that is actually possible to install without a master's degree in STEM, and a good Youtube alternative (Bitchute is cool but not perfect, also not open source).

Beaker Browser is probably a good alternative to ZeroNet (which, ZeroNet is slow as shit and doesn't work on the Pale Moon browser.)

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a look.

the first one (a supposed cloudflare alternative) is the impotant one, others are just a bonus. :)

AlternativeTo

This is how I found SaidIt :) I love you, SaidIt, and AlternativeTo.

I remember reading a conspiracy years ago that cloudflare is CIA operated and funded. The company came out of the middle of no where and offered hosting far cheaper than anyone else. This allows the CIA to easily access your data if it's directly in their database.

I mean I wouldn't be surprised. It does have an awkwardly robust monopoly on what is actually relatively simple technology. Kind of like google, which was also CIA funded. Kind of like Tesla, which is also CIA funded. etc etc. IN-Q-TEL is their investment fund front company they use for these tech companies. So many of the big giants are hand-selected to succeed and injected with money, after they show they're willing to play ball.

When they dropped 8chan, that should've been a wake-up call to everyone.

Avoid CDNs completely, not just Cloudflare. They all provide a point where government agencies can tap into, for easier mass surveillance, while offering minimal benefit (client cache-able resources).

I wrote an article about how to protect your data.
