My guy is a several thousand dollar cat.

I had been giving my dog cheap rubber toys that he would demolish quickly. My cat decided to eat one of the rubber pieces that I hadn't yet picked up, about the size of a penny.

Next thing I know, he is vomiting, lethargic, and can't even drink water. Luckily, it got stuck in the upper stomach, so that idiot didn't even lose any colon.

But now, no more cheap rubber toys, not worth the vet bill https://files.catbox.moe/vxxkrp.jpg

$500 for this... And it would have been more, but he finally managed to cough out the end of the gnawed up hair tie while we were waiting on the vet, and I managed to grab it, but it cost me a wound to the thumb. I took him home without xrays or blood work. The first, they wanted to administer anesthesia. The second I didn't see the point. I'd rather observe him and see if there's any further issue before subjecting him to more medicine. He's already doped to the gills, staring off into nothing.

He is expensive for a free cat.

He'd probably say you're expensive. 😀 Cats sometimes eat things they know are not OK as a way of protesting (like plants). (Of course I don't know what happened in this case.) Glad he's OK.

A gnawed hair tie looks a lot like a small snake or worm, cats eat those. Sometimes cats eat veggies or they'll eat the stomach contents of their prey in the wild. They need meat but they get some benefit from plants.

Gizmo tells me when he doesn't like something. It's the flip side to my hands getting shredded. If he is free to voice or show his displeasure, he doesn't have to resort to sneaky acts of sabotage instead.

Good to know.
