Not sure CAVE is the best acronym. Don't know anything about this group. This could be hysteria from Facebook - or it could be legit, like that insane Saskatchewan stuff.

It would be interesting if this internet blackout occurs when I'm in London at the Chris Sky / Police protest.

Are there any counter-measures we can employ?

At my local preppers group we were discussing CB radios from the cheap things that might have a range of a kilometer or two in the city to the expensive ones that can reach many miles and actually send data (I don't know if it's akin to a fax or better like fiber).

Just as important as the CB gear is what you do with it. WE NEED TO PRACTICE too. There's a whole lingo, dialect, and codes that go with this to learn, develop, and customize. You don't want to give away valuable intel over the air. (ie. "We're getting the guns from Joe's at 6pm and will meet you by the library.")

I brought up the following but actually don't know anything more about it - yet.

" The Better Approach to Mobile Ad-hoc Networking ( B.A.T.M.A.N.) is a routing protocol for multi-hop mobile ad hoc networks which is under development by the German " Freifunk " community and intended to replace the Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR). " ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B.A.T.M.A.N.

I've posted about it on SaidIt before with little interest. IMO the entire world needs to develop community and networking alternatives to the corporate communication monopolies.

Maybe I should make that AMA post for /s/Preppers after all.
