Americans have been trying hard since last many years to create solid alliances of the like minded nations in different regions of the world to contain china and to compete with its growing global power. In this regards, India is one of their main ally in Asia however, it appears that the U.S. policy makers are unable to differentiate between Gandhi’s India and Modi’s India. Gandhi’s secular democratic India had many ideological similarities with the WEST but it’s not the case in Modi’s India. Since 2014 India has been turned into a Hindu nationalist state whose interests are totally against the U.S. regional designs and domestically also they are more interested in strengthening their fascist ideology in order to create a Hindu Rashtra rather than supporting western interests in the region. As a result of this conflict of interests on local as well as on global agendas today’s BJP led India is unfit to serve the purpose for the Americans and the WEST.
This book explains why America might not achieve desired results in its Indo Pacific strategy (that was designed to contain China) if Washington kept relying on India.
