I recommend Passing by Nella Larson.
It's a book I read for my English class, and I am writing an essay on it.

Asimov's Foundation series is quite a bit better than the Apple TV show.

Dune is another classic that I'm sure you already know about.

How about 'Lord of Light' by Zelazny? This is a good one. Remember the movie Argo where they make a fake movie? The fake movie was based on this book. It was written around the same time as Herbert's Dune. It's a futuristic sci-fi with sort of greater societal themes like Asimov's work and Dune.

If you like Asimov and Dune type sci-fi, and haven't read this, I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it

Oh I almost forgot, it also makes use of Hindu mythology which you might appreciate
