I mostly read books about space marines these days. There's something about killing aliens that just doesn't get old for me. Maybe because alien invaders are the perfect target. You don't feel sympathy for them.

That was put to good affect by ignoring that idea in Blood in the Stars book 1. The other 90 books are fine but that first book is special. It shows the enemy as a human being. Half the book is one side of the conflict, the other the.. other. cough

But I don't think it's improved my mind. I don't think it would have if I still read more practical things. I still occasionally love a good technical manual. I wouldn't have minded being a technical writer. That job has fallen on hard times these days.

Anyways, yeah, I think we pressure people who aren't readers into feeling like they should be for no good reason. They aren't going to read. It just makes them feel bad.
