Great review. Anything like the Mel Gibson movie? A few months ago or more I started watching it again to see how it measured up since I saw it last a few decades ago. I don't really have time for movies much anymore, but I wanted to look that one up as I meant to review it on SaidIt for those who enjoyed the 1917 movie with a similar take, but different.

The Gibson movie is really good, tells a nice story more focused on the "brotherhood of war" and shows how a lot of the lads that signed up were just a bunch of kids looking for adventure and got more than they bargained for. I reviewed it here: https://youtu.be/1fiyc6U314s?t=465

This book goes into much more depth and is less personal that the Gibson movie. They share are name and location, but take very different perspectives.
