Lot of finger pointing at the US, but aren't Russia and China vying for the same resources? They want a toehold in Africa to secure mineral and oil resources just like the West does. Frankly, and given the history of most of these countries since 20th century independence, maybe they're not worth our time? The only successes have either gone through a socialist/communist period or a dictatorship, or both. Look at the Congo. The greatest success they saw was when Mobutu was in charge. At first anyway, then he kicked out all the foreign investors and things went to shit. Do we want to be involved in that? What resources do we really need from Africa? And would our time be better spent investing in alternatives or other sources? Sell the debt to the Russians and Chinese and get out.
