I personally am willing to put up with some shortages and headache - and genuine suffering - for the purpose of ending this moment's tyranny.

We need to be prepared, because this will go down in a predictable fashion. The governments of the US and Canada are going to go after these truckers hard, using the terrorism state they've been building for a couple of decades now. There is going to be a massive propaganda campaign attacking the truckers for their actions, and blaming the suffering to come on them. We need to have our responses in place before that happens.

Suffering naturally follows tyranny. The responsibility is absolutely and completely on those who refuse to let people earn a living without bowing to their "moral superiority". Those people need to hear loud and clear that they are getting EXACTLY what they are asking for. If they want to shun the people who make the country run, then this is what happens: the country stops running. You can't run 100% of a country with 85% of your labor. That 15% is enough to bring everything to a halt.

This IS the collapse, and never forget who is doing it, and doing it absolutely methodically and intentionally. Be willing to say as much to anyone with whom you have this conversation.

We're working on it.

If only they'd listen. Those who know already know. Few of those who don't will wake from this.

TRUTH.

A very necessary part of this will be road blocks and the like. Unless this sparks wide spread protests it won't have a chance of working. People need to stand in solidarity with the truckers. This has to be a nucleation point or it will be a flash in the pan.

This will be no small thing.

I hope you are right, but it is not the first trucker stoppage and you probably never even heard of the others.

Well, there was the Australian stoppage last year. This makes me wonder if this is top-down directed to inflict more pain on the citizens during harsher winters rather than effectively rise against the ruling class in fair weather.

Various stoppages across Canada have already started, and the January 23rd stoppage will be a big one at the biggest border crossing in the world, here in Windsor/Detroit. My last 3 posts were about truckers:

And over a week ago I warned about it:

I agree that it is very suspicious that no one is rising up when it makes the most sense. Truckers should have made a stand during the Christmas season and maximized the impact. Protesters should be organizing political change when the politicians go on vacation and kids are out of school.

Out of 100,000 truckers about 10,000 will protests and it will be called 'no small thing' much like what I said above when it snows they show that same stupid scene at Troutdale OR while the rest of us are at 34F rain/snow mix showers then it goes to 29F under clear skies: We wake up to sunny skies and maybe school on 2 hour delay.

PS: Personally, I think they should be on time with bus service cancelled like they do in Canada when the secondary roads are weird. Bus kids are given an automatic excuse by the school and for the kids that show up it's 'fun' time' watching movies with a mostly empty school and many teachers absent. Kids that show up are given recognition for coming on a 'snow day' when buses can't run. Schools in Canada never physically lock their doors on a snow day.

This article is mainly the only reason I made an account and hope I'm not too late but I think only 1/3rd of the estimated truckers will show up. What will happen is some right wing sites (mainly Breitbart and whatever else they own) will spin this to say 'Mass Truckers Protest!' where as in reality a small percent are clustered together but they take one picture of a group calling it 'widespread'.

Same how they do the news up here in Portland whenever there is an ice patch over at Troutdale OR they go to the same stupid overpass by I205 as you leave town showing jack knifed trucks and screaming hysteria about it.Meanwhile it is 34F and rain/snow mix most other places except higher hills above 500 feet with schools on 2 hour late start.

They dropped it and a day later reinstalled it.

Twice.

Interestingly enough, I too did brown-face, only once, in the early 90s to a Halloween party with many University students. Two of my East-Indian-Canadian best friends and their families helped me wear the proper Sikh outfit and turban. Everyone thought it was fun/funny and not an issue. I helped Bob (one of the Sikhs) dress as a First Nations like in Dances With Wolves, and even on non-costume days he normally looks very Native American rather than his actual Asian Indian heritage. Good times.

I'd like to see that.

So what about the freezing January weather? Is that not going to be an issue for a road block protest?

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It tends to be fairly mild inside truck cabins.

We're talking about truckers, not pussified soy boys.

Forecast says -3 with 14km winds from the South, as of last nights meeting, here in Windsor. Could be worse.
