50% of India's population are farmers! That's insane. That is not a good thing. That means that 50% of the population are literally not contributing anything other than the food that could otherwise be produced by 2% of the population. They are literally living on welfare. This is not an economical system. This is holding the entire country back. No wonder that despite having a similar population to China they are still a third world country.

It sucks that their way of life is changing, but they really have no one to blame but themselves for having spent the last two generations sitting on their asses doing nothing because they can grow a few potatoes 3 months out of the year and be guaranteed enough money for them to do nothing else. They should have spent that time learning skills, getting degrees, building small businesses, creating art. Instead they did nothing.

The left always claims that if only the working class were unshackled from the oppressive working class life they would build all these great things. India is proof that it doesn't work that way. People on welfare are proof that it doesn't work that way. In reality the vast, vast majority of people will do nothing productive if not force to.

based on what? do you have any good research about this? compare it to unemployed but paid high in USSA which is actually better for the country? Even in that capacity not all the people in USSA will work in high technical manner.

Also even if they're farmer, there's still a way to move to entrepreneurship, not like its final.

Based on the fact that industrialized nations are far wealthier, have a much higher standard of living, and are better for all citizens by any sane metric. And that status is achieved by not having 50% of people occupied doing something 2% of the people can get done. How do you not understand that this kind of waste of potential and capacity is bad? It's literally no different than having a 2% farming community and a 48% unemployment rate.
