It started in St Louis after a 18 year old boy was murdered by police over a trivial crime, and his body left in the hot sun for hours.

Many of the original leadership of BLM were murdered under suspicions circumstances.

It intensified when BLM publicly joined the BDS movement in solidarity. The media generally stopped covering them at this point.

I never followed them, but recently looked into this after the staged Floyd the Landlord PsyOp.
