Better way to state this is court upholds that guys with a penis are still guys. They don't demand that you be sterilized, they demand that you have all the new parts before they recognize a gender switch.

Exactly. It's consistent with nature.

Japanese jurists:

You're.. a woman?! ...really?!

Well... what about that contradictory thing down there?

Fix that. Then we'll talk.

The 2004 law states that people wishing to register a gender change must have their original reproductive organs, including testes or ovaries, removed

This is why I'm not on reddit right now. I kinda agree with this as a law. As fucked up as it sounds, the gender on your Drivers Licence shouldn't be your "opinion."

a body that “appears to have parts that resemble

Very sketchy. I disagree with this. That's not a legal thing that can be quantified. Looking ugly shouldn't be against the law. Freedom to dress how you like should be allowed.

Japan does not legally recognize same-sex marriages.

Surprised that hasn't changed yet. Besides a few legal issues it shouldn't be that big of a deal. America dealt with it fine. Nothing huge happened. No economic disaster. Not sure what the big concern is.

How about just stop feeling guilty about how you feel? I just took a step back here and am being nicer than I'd like to be. I hate that people feel like they have to tap dance around what they believe.

Been forced to for several years now. Habit starts to kick in sometimes, even when anonymous online.

If I spoke my mind on this topic in public or reddit they'd accuse me of being evil.

When I suggest people should have their gender and preferred gender on their drivers licence I got called an evil bigot who hated rainbows. Live in this clownworld long enough and you start checking yourself for thoughtcrimes when you want to speak.

When they called me evil, I just laughed. They do not tiptoe for you, you can bet your ass on it.

For state purposes, gender does not matter, same as religion or favorite color.

Why should the state care? Why is it on any state documents?

One thing the state does care about is sex (the biological "gender"), and whether the person might reproduce. This data is useful in planning for future demographics, or healthcare investments, and should only be collected by the responsible institutions, instead of being unnecessarily on documents.
