You're surprised only because you apparently are unaware of the realities in Iraq.

And, it's not an entity named "corporate mainstream media" "pushing" it.

Anyway, before the Republican neocon-led misadventure in Iraq, that society has been led largely by the Sunni sect of Islam, and was somewhat secularist and inclusionary (perhaps you remember government spokesman "Baghdad Bob" was a Christian). Women had roles in government, as well.

The neocons initially claimed the invasion was necessary because of an imminent threat of an attack of mass destruction by Saddam Hussein, but when it became known that was untrue after the invasion, after trying out a few new excuses, they settled on 'bringing democracy to Iraq.'

So they further destroyed the existing social order, dismantling the governmental structure and decimating the military. Neocons then set about re-creating a new rickety government propped up by the US, with new elections decided by popular vote.

Problem was, the Shia sect of Islam, though not experienced in worldly affairs, lacking in government experience, deficient in science and education and most all other advanced social constructs, were about 60% of the population, living largely in the south, which borders Iran. Far from the secularist government they were replacing, the Shia were a very fundamentalist religious sect and tribalistic (insuring the majority of votes in a democratic election) . They were also traditionally linked to Shia-dominant Iran.

The Sunni sect, which shared more in common with the Western world, was replaced by force of gun with a US-orchestrated puppet government of backwards religious fundamentalists.

Being aware of this, then it's really no surprise that despite years of the US' efforts some are coming to the conclusion these Shia aren't ruling the country effectively. According to this article, apparently even the Shia young are demanding to be rid of it.

Thanks for this. I've been wondering why and how the US let Iraq become Shia controlled. It seems like an epic failure to overthrow a government only to let a "worse/enemy" group take control. These geographic factors are very interesting.

Maybe the US let it happen because it keeps the door open for US boots on the ground.

Yup, winning the war is not the goal. Endless conflict is the goal, because that's the most profitable for the military-industrial complex. So much of US military strategy that doesn't make sense, suddenly makes perfect sense when viewed through this lens.

Could be. A puppet government with Shia in the seats would allow for that, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it was simply "an epic failure" due to the sheer incompetence of Donald Rumsfeld and his fellow neocons.

They never admitted the real goal was the greater Israel project.

The goal is to keep Iraq destabilized, so Israel can dismantle it and eventually occupy it.

This was the Zionist goal before Israel was officially a state, and the greater Israel outline can be found on one of the flags of the terrorists groups who formed the Likud party (the Irgun).

Thank goodness we have the internet. I couldn't imagine only having TV and newspaper and then having to suss out the rest on my own or by talking to people I personally know. There's a lot of disinformation too, but the internet at least gives you access to see most everything if you look hard enough. This gives us a fighting chance to figure out what the truth is, instead of being totally blinded by the wool pulled over our eyes

Iran taking control of Iraq was the outcome everyone predicted when the neocons started a war of aggression against Iraq. And what do you know, it happened. Now they're angry about it? Cry me a river.
