Tiktok has convinced me I have ADHD even though I know logically it's just part of normal human variation which has been medicalised.

While I agree that it is part of the human condition, I think it is getting progressively worse. Maybe it's the lack of boredom, maybe it's all the plastics, maybe it the parmecutical contamination in the food and water.

But I remeber there being a lot more garage bands, artists (who actually developed impressive skills), skateboarders pushing the limits of their abilities and just a lot more people with focused hobbies back in the 90's. Now there seems to be infinite access to materials that would take those people to a new level but everyone has regressed to stage one or worse, not having any hobbies at all.

My conspiracy oriented brain suspects there might be a sinister plan behind it all. Slowly moving all of society into psychosis, medicating more and more people as they slide deeper into debilitating levels. Until the entire spectrum of adhd is so extreme everyone needs to be on some level of drugs to function. Then we will all be slaves to their pills, and they will fuck us and pimp us like the drug dealers do to highschool party girls they get hooked on free party drugs then pull the free supply when they are hooked.

Didn't someone post an article which said taking paracetamol during pregnancy increased the likelihood of kids with ADHD?

There was a morning-sickness drug that is suspected of causing the underdeveloped prefrontal cortex, present in people with ADD. I can't remember which one.

I have the bona fides to get an Adderall script. I don't because it's expensive, not just the drugs but the monthly doctors visits for a controlled substance, and last time I was treated like a junkie rather than a patient with pharmacists even refusing to fill my Klonopin/Adderall combo. Not sure how it is the UK, I mean obviously it's "free," but if it's not hard to get, speed can be handy. Sex is really fun on it, it makes you really productive, and it sure beats a cup of coffee to wake up, but it's also pretty damn addictive.

See the fact they give you stimulants as a cure sort of proves it's a problem of people being underachievers rather than having a special mental issue. If normal people take stimulants they can work all night, lose weight and generally get their shit done. With ADHD people it just brings them up to normal levels of activity because otherwise they are a bit behind in those areas. It's like giving performance enhancing drugs to a fat kid and noting they can now run at average speed in their class.

I don't think ADHD is a special mental problem, psychology is a joke profession and their whole take on "mental illness" is crude at best, outright harmful at worst. I'm not even sure if the fact amphetamines calm some people is a signifier of anything besides an individual response to the drug.

It's just a useful drug, and if you fit the ADHD criteria you can get a script.
