or - pathetic, misleading strawman argument using a Jewish prof's comment, at a Jewish Seminary, interviewed by Jewish lobby ADL (a horrible group), about Jewish people in Ukraine not being attacked by so-called neo-Nazi Jews, in the midst of a conflict that's unrelated to Jews. Because the supply lines were cut off with other military actions away from those camps. The Nazi empire, in general, was starving and short of medicine, towards the end of the war in the Western Theater. PoWs/camp inmates are the first to be neglected in that circumstance.

This is nonsense.

Out of the approximately 15 million people murdered by the Nazis (this excludes war deaths), about:

  • 32% died of famine and disease
  • 19% by gassing
  • 16% by forced labour
  • 15% by shooting
  • and the remaining 18% by other means (e.g. beatings, medical experiments) or unknown.

Even if we pretend that all famine and disease was due to the Allies, and it certainly was not, that's not even close to "most".

But even if it were true, the victims' blood is still on the hands of the Nazis. When you lock somebody up against their will and take away their liberty, you become morally responsible for their safety and well-being. It was Nazi policy to cram concentration camp victims in dangerously over-crowded conditions, knowing full well that it would lead to disease. It was Nazi policy to give prisoners starvation rations, knowing full well it would lead to death by starvation and illness.

Of course. You say that as if the stats are unreliable. As if the Allies didn't spend years investigating and running trials, and then historians another 70 years going over the records and evidence. As if there weren't tens of thousands of Nazi documents detailing their actions, thousands of eye-witness testimonies including those of camp guards and SS officers, mountains of physical evidence and demographic evidence that the Jewish population in occupied Europe fell by many millions.

Probably the least reliable number is the estimate of Soviet POW deaths, and that's probably an underestimate. Stalin made a big deal about hiding Soviet war dead so that the Allies wouldn't know just how badly the USSR had been affected and how many fighting-age men had died.

But whether it's 15 or 14 or 17 million, denying that there were many millions murdered in the camps is as asinine as denying that Americans own cars or that the French eat cheese.

Where are the 15 million bodies?
