People are non-religious already. Visit a church on sunday morning and compare this with sunday morning church 60 years ago.

I grew up there, left in my late 30s. Religious people were already a minority 20 years ago. If anything religion is on the rise, from Muslim immigrants.

If you look at the stats the number of Muslims hasn't grown very much recently.

All immigrant groups are more religious than the natives, and it's mostly Christians coming in, Africans and Eastern Europeans. Even the big surge in Albanians are mostly atheist because of communism.

I think the past 3 generations didn't so much turn away from god, as much as they were simply born atheists.

Then their great grandparents turned away from God.
