As Noam Chomsky once noted, Apartheid South Africa wasn't covertly trying to ethnically cleanse itself of black africans, it simply had a policy of strict separation between the ruling whites and the black underclass, not too dissmilar from the pre-civil rights movement USA. Frankly I think that calling Israel's treatment of non-jews 'apartheid' makes it seem far less malign than what it is in reality.
