A lot of northern countries of the EU are dependent on gas imports.
Due to the "sanctions" a lot of gas is imported from China that imports it from Russia. So Russia still get their rubles, a bit less than exporting it directly.

So now many citizens may freeze to death, and survivors will have very inflated energy prizes. The only winners are the other gas exporting countries.

The good outcome is that Russia will get less money.
I think that you exaggerate that many citizens may freeze to death. It's already happening in Russia since many years. Damn, they don't even have toilets and washing machines :o

It can freeze -20 celsius in most areas in northern Europe.
Depends on how cold the winter will be and how high it is. The latest energy bills are already too much for 30% of people.

The EU will turn into a 3rd world country soon.
