Taiwan is a US military asset, not a US ally. That’s a very significant difference that everyone, especially the Taiwanese, would do well to keep in mind.

If they do not care about the rest of the world then logically they are not a US ally.

The average person doesn't give a shit about US political movements or declared statuses. The average US person doesnt care. So how much more outside of the US do you think people care? Go into Taiwan and ask every one you walk past on the street what they think of the US as an ally and they wont care.
