Why are you saying the infection rate has dropped when many countries are seeing their highest ever infection rates?

Different countries get the highest levels at different times. See the graphs here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Select the country you want to see and there is a graph which shows a periodic reduction of the number of cases.

It might reduce the spread by a small about but in the real world that doesn't have much effect.

The opposite of this. (The spread has reduced significantly, whcih has allowed for the reopening of businesses. Where do you get your news and information? With respect, this is well known.)

Most cases are caught in hospital, care homes, work, the family home where people are together for hours. Being 40% less infectious might make a difference when you are passing people on the street but in those situations it has next to no effect.

Again - where would one learn false information like this? Most of the 352 million documented cases (millions undocumented) were not caught in the hospital, but instead in public areas.

And let's face it we only had lockdowns and compulsory masks because zero symptomatic cases were supposed to be a major risk of spreading infection.

No...

So are you saying that was nonsense and those cases were actually no problem.

No...
