Orders doubled from universities, jumped fivefold from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and surged tenfold from animal testing bureaus. Purchases from hospitals declined by more than 10%.

Monthly procurement data shows a spike in orders in May, especially from CDC buyers and the People's Liberation Army.

It's theoretically possible prices dropped, so they could have been stocking up. The report is behind some signup form that demands a phone number, so I don't know whether they bothered to look at that.

But if the CDC was buying in May (this article is too ambiguous to say), that puts it still more than two months before the virology lab at Fort Detrick stopped operations, and then was closed at the beginning of August.

I remember vaguely that some of its operations were moved around that time. Was it to Wuhan? I need a chart to keep track of all this shit that's getting deleted.
