This was our own doing.

If you shoot yourself in the foot this isnt the fault of the gun shop who sold you the gun.

If someone coerces you into shooting your foot, they are partly to blame. If someone breaks down your mental processors so you could listen to them when they say "shoot your foot", well, they are even more to blame.

If someone gets drunk and gets raped, you'd probably argue that it was all their fault too, and that the rapist should go free, no?
