I myself don't believe in the zero kill idea, but there is a lot of evidence supporting the idea that the National Socialists didn't had a proper genocide plan, but rather, what they meant by the "extermination" of Jews referred to completely eliminating the influence that they had on German society. There was a controversy back then about how much did the genocide stories were propaganda or real.

Now, like I said, regardless of all of these arguments, the Germans back then were being openly racist against them so I doubt the zero kill thing is even plausible. The real controversy lies in the fact that the Holocaust authorities never properly gave the Germans the benefit of the doubt when it comes to investigating the supposed murders. The difference between a 100, 200, 300 total number of kills vs the 6 million figure is that while they are both atrocities, the Jews wouldn't be able to gain income the same way they currently do with a more honest figure. There are a lot of crimes in history that are a lot worse and supposing an estimate like that or lower were to come out, it wouldn't be fair for the Germans to constantly pay for the crimes very few of them were involved in, several years ago too.
