Gasoline shortage in the country with the cheapest oil in the world. Thanks socialism. Somehow this is capitalism's fault.

Yep. I do believe there's been good leftists, but the corruption present in the Chavez-Maduro regime just can't be placed in the US.

The trouble is certain things become right or left issues when they really are universal concerns. In Venezuela simple things like arresting criminals was seen as an evil right wing policy so a leftist government couldn't do it without a backlash from their own voters. The narrative there is people stealing do it out of desperation and poverty so if you give money to poor people crime will magically stop. That didn't work. They had large scale organised crime stealing food and selling it outside the country for a higher price leaving the markets empty. People had handout money to spend but nothing to buy.
