Since when is every damn thing someone tweets "news" when it has nothing whatever to do with policy? I am really sick of this shit. The "news" has stopped telling anyone about what's going on in congress or senate for like a decade. I guarantee I ask anyone what bills are currently going through consideration and I'd be met with dead fucking eyes thanks to this shit.

News is a fucking shit show, for sure.

In fairness, however, Trump doesn't care about policy, either, unless he's mid-ramble on the campaign trail or giving himself more money.

...And? When's the last time you saw a president actually discussing data or metrics and policy proposal nuances with the public? I think everyone's just mad Trump does it better than anyone else, and instead of playing a different game they CAN win they're having tantrums. This is fucking politics, it's nothing new.

I mean, fuck every president we've had in my lifetime, they were all pieces of shit.

But you have to ask yourself if the people in charge, who actually matter in these decisions don't research this shit, what's the point in being some kind of "informed citizen" doing policy wonk work these power-hungry shitheads won't be doing?

For the vast majority of people the important point is in delegation. Ideally you know enough about something to be able to spot mistakes, but you have to ultimately hire people who are SUPPOSED to know what they're doing. The US government is run by unelected bureaucrats that feed our elected representatives what keeps them paid. Oh sure, it sounds nice if a politician did do his own research, but what of everything else that needs doing? All the legal proposals they have to review or read summaries of, all that handshaking, and back door dealing. You can pretend someone could ignore these things, but then the bill comes due when their proposals get ignored in turn.

My point is, I've always been intensely cynical about our government from the day I learned about it. Trump is literally not doing one single thing different from anyone ever elected. It's all propaganda, all the time, always, while the real stuff happens with hand shakes and murmurs once the cameras are off.

Well said, and I mean that earnestly. Touché mon ami.

I don't think we're that far apart here on what we think the reality is. it just looks like you are indignant that people are indignant. I just don't give a fuck either way.

I'm indignant that people are arbitrarily indignant, yes. As if pretending things are somehow worse when they're the exact same. That pisses me off.

really last time I saw a president discuss data, it was actually the candidate Ross Perot in 92.

for years trump worked with the media, including having his own reality show. The media secretly is glad he won because this trump presidency helped their ratings. Every day he does something funny and exciting to help the media get views and clicks.

Because journalism is a dying & lazy industry. The amount of articles that aren't about a tweet or at least have a tweet somewhere in the article is very few nowadays.

He's essentially challenging Antifa to demolish it.
