Wow that was like a nuclear bomb almost, that was a much bigger explosion than I ever expected. Holy cow.

Reuters says it occurred in a port area but doesn't give a reason why: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-lebanon-security-blast/large-blast-in-beirut-port-area-shakes-lebanons-capital-sources-say-idUSKCN25021M

Another video on twitter (just below the OP video on twitter) shows what look to be fireworks going off right before the big explosion, so it might've been a shipment of fireworks.

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

From the rusty coloring of the cloud, I'm gonna assume someone had a few tons of ammonium perchlorate stored too close together or all in one area. Most military explosives don't have that burnt chemical color, they leave dark grey and dirt colored dust clouds. Just my armchair two cents.

[–]Tom_Bombadil 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

The rusty cloud exploded upwards in a reddish cloud.

Half a second later a secondary explosion detonated under the rusty cloud.

Edit:

For magnitude reference: slow motion detonation of 950 kilo bomb

That red plume is unusual.

Ammonium Perchlorate Blast. The explosions in this videos don't appear to have rusty colored clouds. IDK.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Yeah the PEPCON explosion is a good example, look at the rust colored smoke at about 4:33 In this vid https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_1kTAX9uWcw That's the same explosion, the video you were looking at doesn't show it quite as well.

Every other vid of AP burning I looked at only results in grey smoke, so I dunno... could be wrong. Definitely looks like the PEPCON explosion.

[–]Tom_Bombadil 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It certainly looks rust red like the video you linked to.

Good call.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I've been looking at videos and this one and the PEPCON are the only two I've seen that have that coloring. Apparently they're saying it was ammonium nitrate now, which was also present at the PEPCON explosion. Maybe it's the nitrate that makes the distinct color? Oxidation of the aluminum would be white, so that's not it.

I've seen chemical fires with that coloring before but can't find any demonstrative videos. Petroleum makes black smoke, wood and paper make grey, and chemicals make all sorts of colors. Now I'm curious about that color and what it tells us is similar between these two explosions.

[–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

Nice observation! Google says this about it:

Ammonium perchlorate is used in fireworks, explosives, and rocket motors. Also used by the U.S. military in rockets, explosives, flares and ammunition. The chemistry of the solid rocket booster propellant can be summed up in this reaction: Once ignited, the fuel-burning reaction cannot be stopped.

[–]FediNetizen 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I was watching that periscope stream and the government supposedly just confirmed it was supposed to be ammonium nitrate.

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Interesting. Now the only question is was it accidental or intentional... Seems accidental so far based on what little I know

[–]bobbobbybob 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

munitions...

[–]slushpilot 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I read an arabic translation from twitter so someone would need to confirm the source but it said 2700 tons of confiscated nitrate was set off by a welding torch.

It looked like there was a fire already, so probably not ignited directly by the torch itself.

[–]bobbobbybob 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

5.4 kt of TNT equivalent. Munitions storge

[–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

Interesting, could be. Where are you getting that info? Another comment says it was ammonium perchlorate or ammonium nitrate: https://saidit.net/s/WorldNews/comments/5w1z/a_massive_explosion_has_just_hit_beirut_lebanon/mwx3?context=3

[–]bobbobbybob 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

it was these guys, but tweet is scrubbed now:

https://twitter.com/AlArabiya_Eng

they named it as a hezbollah warehouse in an early tweet

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Interesting, but I have to say jumping to the hezbollah explanation is exactly what Israel wants because then it means they can invade lebanon as per an earlier contract.

[–]FediNetizen 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No way it was 5.4kt equivalent. Lebanese president confirmed there were 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate being stored in the warehouse.

As it happens, that lines up extremely well with the yield calculations done by this redditor several hours ago. Ammonium nitrate has a relative effectiveness (RE is an index for how powerful the explosion is relative to the same mass of TNT) of 0.42, so 2,750 x 0.42 = 1105.5 tons, with that being the upper limit.

Keep in mind since it wasn't arranged for an optimal explosion, so actual yield is gonna be lower, which is why those 700-1000 ton numbers seem like a pretty good range.

At any rate it certainly wasn't 5.4kt, that'd be 30% larger than the largest conventional explosion in recorded history, which was set off intentionally. If we're talking accidental detonations, 5.4kt would be nearly twice the current largest recorded explosion, the Halifax Explosion, which was 2.9kt

[–]FediNetizen 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

5.4kt? You're smoking crack. The Lebanese have confirmed there were 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate in that warehouse. Ammonium nitrate has a relative effectiveness of 0.42, which puts an upper limit of the size at about 1.1kt. That's of course assuming a perfect explosion, which this likely wasn't.

Several hours ago someone posted a detailed Reddit thread where they analyzed the footage to estimate the size of the explosion. The most likely value was in the 700-1000 ton range.

[–]bobbobbybob 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

A leading arabic news source is smoking crack, did you say? Wasn't my estimate.

[–]Edge_Finder 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (38 children)

i dont think nuclear

[–]magnora7[S] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (37 children)

Nope not nuclear, but almost that size. Humongous explosion

[–]Eroconid 1 insightful - 6 fun1 insightful - 5 fun2 insightful - 6 fun -  (1 child)

Antimatter

[–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 5 fun1 insightful - 4 fun2 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

lol. no

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (34 children)

Definitely nuclear.

[–]FediNetizen 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (31 children)

What? No. It was a huge explosion, but there have been larger conventional explosions, and even a small nuke would leave fallout and detectable radiation levels, of which there are none.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (30 children)

And you know this how.

Small nukes aren't about making HUGE ASS explosions.

[–]FediNetizen 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (28 children)

And you know this how.

Because nukes leaving behind radioactive material is basic science.

Also because the Lebanese government has already come out and said there was a huge stockpile of confiscated ammonium nitrate that was being stored in that warehouse.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (26 children)

No, I meant how do you "know" there isn't any radiation emitted at the site. Are you in the smoldering crater at the moment with a geiger counter in hand?

[–][deleted]  (19 children)

[deleted]

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (18 children)

Yes there would MOST LIKELY be. Also, the phone cameras did not register any radioactivity, which is puzzling.

However, the amount of energy displayed by that blast front exceeds my guesstimate of what conventional explosives can attain.

You can compare it to a bomb if you like, but bear in mind that bombs are created SPECIFICALLY for exploding in a devastating way. There is no wasted energy in a bomb. A storage space is not a bomb. Even when filled with explosive stuff. There will be combustible / oxygen mistmatching and other fizzle inducing inefficiencies in a storage space.

So when a storage space explodes "every bit as energetically as a bomb" ... IT'S A BOMB. Storage spaces explode inefficiently.

    [–]FediNetizen 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

The explosion happened like 6 hours ago and people have been walking around the explosion site for a while now. You think no government official or individual in Lebanon has thought to check for radiation levels? Of course they have. And if they'd found anything then it would be frontpage news. The fact that there isn't any news about radiation by now means that there is no radiation, which means it wasn't a nuke.

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

OK so government and media don't lie. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

There were nukes used in Yemen, the Ukraine and China this decade. Nobody ever talked about them here in the West.

I learned about the Ukrainian one from an acquaintance in Europe who happens to have a geiger counter. WHERE IS YOUR MEDIA COVERAGE.

    [–]Jesus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Probably not a nuke but was it bigger than this: https://invidio.us/watch?v=993wlZ6XFSs

Watch for the 2nd explosion at the end.

    [–]Jesus 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This doesn't have the shockwave of the other one though.

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It was? I thought it was fairly similar. But then again, scale on camera can be a fickle thing.

    [–]bobbobbybob 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

nukes are about making super hot core explosions. That wasn't a nuke by many thousands of degrees.

    [–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think so, it was too small of an explosion for nuclear. And plus there'd be reports of radiation readings from Geiger counters in lebanon and there's not

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (13 children)

It IS a nuke. With some other explosive chemicals sprinkled on top for color and cuteness.

    [–]magnora7[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

Very doubtful. We'll know soon as the radiation from a nuke would be easily measurable

    [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Yes, unless there is muzzling of that info by co-opted media and L.E.

Also, newer nukes are much cleaner than we are used to thinking. But yeah there should definitely be radiation, unless the latest tech does away with it entirely. The fog of ashes in the air after the blast makes me very suspicious. Conventional explosives don't do that.

    [–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

The fog of ashes in the air after the blast makes me very suspicious

Yeah the yellow fog after is why people are saying ammoium perchlorate was the explosive

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

There were TWO explosions. Yes, I saw the coloring of the first. It's the second with its extremely energetic blast wavefront that puzzles me. Also, the after-blast sound that goes on... Not fire, not explosion, but... Something else. WHAT IS IT?

    [–]bobbobbybob 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

    not a nuke

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax_Explosion

it was a munitions factory, making explosives for Hezbollah. everyone knows it.

    [–]Anatolia 11 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 2 fun -  (13 children)

im going to bet israel did it, they've been trying to fuck over lebanon ever since. forever. all my jewish "friends" think lebanon deserves military action (for whatever reason, idk probably because the iranians wanna kill israel or something absurd like that)

    [–]magnora7[S] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Well there's certainly the motive for them to do so... I already saw an article about how Israel has a contract with Lebanon that if they support Hezbollah in any way at all, then Israel can do something to Lebanon like invade it or something... so if Israel wanted to make that happen, this would probably check those boxes. So it could be a regional territory grab based on a past contract. I don't know much about the contract itself or what it entails though.

    [–]Anatolia 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Lebanon used to be a pretty great country from what I have read before this whole Iran/Israel proxy war there.

I already saw an article about how Israel has a contract with Lebanon that if they support Hezbollah in any way at all, then Israel can do something to Lebanon like invade it or something

Interesting, I will look more into it. One of my "friends" (I don't really associate with him anymore for his jewish supremacy views) has a picture of him with a israeli flag looking over the lebanese border. Scary shit. Really pissed me off how he would otherwise seem to be reasonable but when it comes to Israel a diehard zionist. A bernie supporter yet zionist. And now when its Biden V Trump he gives the whole "noam chomsky" shtick about "lesser evil blah blah" voting. And I just looked up Noam and I never knew he was an Ashkenazi as well. WOW! That explains a lot. I watched this video about Noam being a gatekeeper a few months ago and it gave me a new perspective. I tend to run around in "bernie" circles and a lot of these people love to push chomsky's view of consequentialism, which I find absolutely absurd (imagine thinking we know the full consequences of presidential candidates winning or not)

Despite hating trump and hillary, I will admit trump probably has done far less warmongering than hillary would have done. I dont want to be an "anti-jew" guy, but after reading about how the rothschilds love the talmud, and the talmud literally describes when it is okay to rape girls and sodomize boys, and how they say jesus deserves eternal fire, and how torah followers aren't "jews" theres a lot to learn. my family used to worship israel and shit, but they've definitely started changing their tune thankfully.

I would like to take this moment to tell people about the animated historical movie "Waltz With Bashir" which is about this exact thing. It's a good movie, worth a watch.

    [–]magnora7[S] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Awesome. It's a good movie for a lot of reasons: It shows how complex war is, and how when fighting a war you might not be fighting for who you think you're fighting for... It also tells a very niche viewpoint of a little-mentioned war, so it's interesting for that historical aspect too. Definitely worth a watch!

    [–]Jesus 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Always remember that the Palestinians are a diverse group of people of which genetics studies have proven that they are descendants of the Hebrews, Philistines and ancient peoples of Israel, even before the birth of Yeshua and the tribe of Judah. The supremacist Jews deny this and use mistranslated bible verses to claim land rights. Instead of living peacefully together as one nation for all people, the Zionists steal more and more land and ethnically cleanse a people so similar to the semitic Jews of biblical times. Of course, one can make the case, that much of these fervant Zionists are mostly Ashkenazi Jews and can thus claim the Khazar theory that they are not semitic and so they have no right to the land of Judah, let alone Israel. But even if they were not, it still does not really matter. Jews and the diverse group of Palestinians of all religions lived peacefully among themselves for thousands of years. It was only when the influx of Jews emigrated to Israel, on the auspices of Rothschild and Co., and Jewish persecution in European, did things go downhill. Then the Irgun, Lehi and other Jewish terrorists started killing and bombing Palestinians and Jews who stood against their ideology.

Despite hating trump and hillary, I will admit trump probably has done far less warmongering than hillary would have done.

You cannot know that. Besides, Iran isn't something to be messed around with. This isn't an Iraq or Syria. Iran has the backing of China and Russia and its military is tremendously strong. Today's wars will not be fought by ground troops. The Iraq war was all that was needed to Balkanize most of the middle east. Proxy wars are the new wars, and Trump has continued to go along with it.

Keep in mind, just because Trump pulls Troops in some region, at the end of a 10 years successful Balkanization campaign does not mean he is anti-War. He is part and parcel of a greater agenda, one that is planned many, many years in advance.

(imagine thinking we know the full consequences of presidential candidates winning or not):: Electoral college picks presidents, not the people. Presidents are executive officers of the Federated corporation, ie. UNITED STATES.

And now when its Biden V Trump he gives the whole "noam chomsky" shtick about "lesser evil blah blah" voting.

Yup, Chomsky did this because he is a labor Zionist. He is a left-wing ZioCon at odds with the Likudnik right-wing Zionists.

Yes, the Rothschilds are talmudists, some are occultists and Cabalists and practice the Lurianic Kabbalah which teaches, as did Rabbi Kook, of whom Kushner and CO., follow, that non-Jews have lesser souls than cattle and non-Jews are ONLY born to serve the Jew. This is not some anti-Semitic canard. Israel Shahak, an Israel Jew, wrote a book about Jewish fundamentalism and these translated verses. The reason that it was forbidden to translate the Talmud into english is because these supremacist Jews did not want the non-Jew to know what they thought about them and how they were taught to treat them.

This version of the Cabala is far more damning than the Talmud, which actually has some interesting verses I agree with. After all, it is oral law and writings of various different rabbis, but there are also disgusting, disgraceful verses that cannot be denied.

Lebanon is a beautiful place. Go unto GoogleNews, not for the propaganda they want to give you, but for matchstick consciousness. Search this explosion on GoogleNews with keywords and see if you see a pattern. Then search Israeli media and see what they are trying to convey. I always do this and many times I discover hilarious contrived narratives being pushed.

How come we're not interested in what happens in Lebanon and Syria ever unless it makes those countries look bad and not Israel? LOL. The retarded "Jewish" state has been attacking those 2 areas for the past 5 years literally bombing them and throwing missiles into their territories and capital (in the case of Syria), that stuff is never covered. And now some ship explodes that was carrying fireworks and this garbage is all over the media as if getting excited over the misfortune of Israel's rival is somehow going to make america and Israel go back to how respected they were in the 90s, distasteful? It's the truth.

Yes, it's in the rules since the beginning. Here are the list of subs not on /all: https://saidit.net/subs/notall/

We just had a post about this new feature a couple weeks ago: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/5pei/new_saidit_feature_now_you_can_browse_the_list_of/

    [–]send_nasty_stuff 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Ok so you're cool with me sending you instances of other subs posting content that is low on the pyramid of debate and you will promptly remove them permanently from s/new?

s/altrightwebm barely has comments and 90% of the videos are logical high pyramid videos. You need to remove all comedy subs, entertainment subs, music subs, etc as well from s/new because they are not high on the pyramid.

Let's just admit that this pyramid thing is a way to give you unchecked power on the site. It has nothing to do with actual debate. Literally 80% of the subs on this site have posts that are low on the pyramid.

I actually asked you specifically about this when I joined the site and got no answer from you.

Good point. I just banned them both

    [–]IRONICALLY_A_NAZI 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wow It's like I'm back on reddit all over again.

How did s/nigger violate the "What's not allowed" part on saidit?

I don't know what that sub was about but is saidit just going to be a new reddit with the same amount of censorship? Seriously frustrating if that's the case.

    [–]Chipit 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Wow. All the feminists had themselves put on there so they could create an echo chamber. They literally learned nothing from being banned from reddit. Incredible.

Contradiction: States the opposing case with little or no supporting evidence

    [–]send_nasty_stuff 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

An admin that goes down the pyramid of debate to explain why he banned a sub for going down the pyramid of debate. The irony.

my dear friends sent me this one

    [–]magnora7[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Yeah I saw that one too, that's the clearest view of what happened. You can see it's fireworks going off (or it seems to be) right before the big explosion.

    [–]Edge_Finder 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

i dont know, they were storeing something there that is for sure. that kind of explosion is fucking insane

    [–]Jesus 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Was it as big as the explosion in the Chinese port a few years ago?

    [–]Edge_Finder 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    yest if not harder

Watch as the vast majority of normies don't give a shit because people in Beirut are considered less than human.

    [–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I care. Lots of people care. It's on the front page right now. Why promote this narrative that people don't care?

    [–]teelo 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

    We're not normies.

    [–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe. "Normies" can care about people on the other side of the Earth too though

    [–]teelo 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I stand corrected. That video though... what the fuck did it hit to trigger that second explosion?

    [–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think it was a second explosion, it was just the shock waves. The "first explosion" was the combustion, and the "second explosion" was the low-pressure shockwave imploding to fill the space vacated by the explosion, and then going outward after it imploded. At least that was my take on it

    [–]Edge_Finder 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

i dunno if fireworks are involved.... there one one blast, than a KABBBON

    https://youtu.be/993wlZ6XFSs

    this this firework blast

    [–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Well if you read the rest of this thread, we identified it as an ammonium perchlorate explosion, which is only used in fireworks, missiles, rockets, and ammo.

    [–]Edge_Finder 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

i have been reading it.... aluminum in powder is very explosive i just didn't want to go in detail about well... yeah

its too early to tell at this moment, have to see how MSM dismantles it, or if they even ignore it

but yeah, my guess they were storing something that should not have been, and shit got real

sorry i hope the loss of life was minimal

    [–]magnora7[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Agreed. Best case this was just some fireworks not being stored properly. Worst case this was a setup to try to initiate war in the region. I hope calm heads prevail

    [–]Edge_Finder 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

lmao i have to post this here.... this has, ha just one second.

    dem bootleg leg fireworks

    [–]mikipika 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Definite fatalities. Crazy how big that blast was and how people managed to capture it.

    [–]magnora7[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah I'm thinking this is 50-200 fatalities probably... not good. I heard the firefighters were just arriving and had set up to put out the fire right before it exploded... so that's horrible. On the plus side, the fireworks going off might have given people enough warning to get away at least some distance. So that hopefully saved a lot of lives, but I don't think anyone expected an explosion of that immense size.

    drone strike?

    what was in the building?

    [–]magnora7[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It was a fireworks (or munitions) explosion. Waaaay too huge of an explosion to be a drone strike. It was explosive material stored at the port.

    [–]Edge_Finder 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

i wonder.... hmmmm just a guess that were storing un ethically a bunch of crazy shit, since they were on on a port

    [–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like an ammunition shipment, or a fireworks storage issue. Either way it clearly wasn't stored safely.
