Ban every company based in Communist China or that has ties with the CCP, and seize their shares in American companies. Just banning TikTok won't be enough. We're losing the culture war, and it's about time we changed that. Communism has no place on American soil!

I'm no fan of Communism, but oppressive censorship and cronyism is not the way to combat it.

There's big difference between censorship and banning foreign investment.

Also, isn't cronyism just a word libertarians use to describe any time the government does anything?

Banning an app or website for private citizens is censorship. Something China does regularly, but not something a free society should be engaging in.

Cronyism in a political context is generally buying and selling favors, regardless of qualifications. Us libertarians tend to use it a lot, because it describes the current state of capitalism in America.

It's censorship when you ban it to prevent the flow of information. The reason the US is banning TikTok is not to censor the users of the app (have you even seen anything remotely intelligent on TikTok?), but rather to strengthen national security, as China is using the app to collect data about US citizens and feed them Communist propaganda. Banning TikTok (and other Chinese apps) will push people towards other platforms where they can more easily access and share information. The only problem is that American companies aren't much better, if better at all, but at least they aren't controlled by a foreign government.

Yes I have. It has everything to do with what you "like" and who you follow. And no one had any problem with Tik Tok until it started to get political. The left tried to counter with leftist propaganda vids but was absolutely destroyed in the comment section.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

How about banning censorship and information gathering, both private and public?

[–]Canbot 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is exactly the solution if they were actually concerned about China data mining 12 year olds.

I'm all for that.

This is not about Communism or China. This is about protecting Jewish dominance of media. You can't name one singe platform that is a fraction as popular with kids as tik tok (the main target demographic for propaganda) that isn't controlled by Jews.

inb4 oy vey, the antisemitism!

He has kept almost all of his promises, look it up

I don't use TikTok for privacy and security reasons, and I don't recommend anyone else do so either. That said, Trump has no authority to tell private citizens what apps or sites they can use on their personal devices, and anyone cheering for this kind of censorship should give some serious thought to how that sort of control could be used to suppress other sources of information.

If he thinks hes not going to be reelected, theres nothing stopping him ordering his troops to march into the ISPs and force them to block it. The only place that can stop him is the Supreme Court or Impeachment, and by the time a case gets heard its too late, and will be a different presidents mess to clean up.

Well if they have a solid proof that US safety is compromised due to tiktok app, I'd say it's smart to ban it here, at least temporarily? Huawei for example is long gone from American soil. But it might be fear mongering too, we dont have an evidence.

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

He should ban twatter for pure self-care-interest. Obviously he can't handle all the notifications it sends to him. He developed a serious https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavioral_addiction . He was an attention whore even before that, but a bad one.

And the Chinese do whatever the Chinese wanna do behind their big wall while most tenderly and slowly fucking the US-American economy in its stinkhole.

He simply can't accept this fact, i suppose.

Better even: What's next ? Will he forbid the whole internet for his citizens except for the constant stream of bs from his twatter? Will he finally become the tzar, he seriously believes, he is ? Like this guy : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nero ?

I'm surprised he isn't going to ban Twitter for deleting his tweets.

    [–]ctvzbuxr 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of this. I support Trump over his competition, but this will be seen by the general population as an act of censorship. And honestly, I can't help but agree. This is not the way.
