I do not know much about Amnesty International but many NGOs are into some godawful stuff. Some of the staff in third-world countries are intel agents and human trafficking is by no means unheard of. A certain SE Asian country I visit often, is in the process of kicking NGOs out because some are interfering with the government's operation. Not all NGOs are bad but do be careful and investigate any organization you are thinking of joining.
