Solar minimum means quiet magnetosphere. Which means more cosmic rays make it in. cosmic rays heat up silica magma chambers, causing an uptick in volcanism.

We expected a bunch of these, at this low spot in the current solar cycle. Should be a fair few more going off until 2021, then a quiet bit until 2031, when we enter a prolonged solar minimum and the associated volcanoes and telecoms damages that go with a collapsed magnetosphere.
