I found this link interesting by showing a different perspective:

Thanks for the link. It is definitely being pushed in the US media to try and limit the influence of the Chinese. Same as how the US inflated the economies of Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, and HK in order to stop Chinese geographical expansionism, while maintaining a military presence. They call it the "Chinese containment strategy", and supporting the riots in the US media is undoubtedly part of that strategy. But that doesn't mean it's not on the right side of history as well.

Stuff is getting bad there again, the chinese military is there fighting the protesters, and now they've shot a kid. Everyone is so upset. Why can't China just leave Hong Kong alone and honor the existing contracts. Greed, I guess

Maybe. Hong Kong technically belongs to China now.

I understand that we all feel for them, But the truth is, they aren't free. They aren't allowed to protest in any meaningful way.

The protesters are breaking the law. I think if they want freedom then they need to take the steps necessary to achieve this. Otherwise they are only endangering innocent lives for the social media hashtag resistance, which means they'll be forgotten in a year.

Hong Kong technically belongs to China now.

Not until 2047, until then it's a special administrative region which china is currently ignoring in a brazen power grab.

The protesters are doing the necessary steps to achieve their goals. There is no more legal or safe or correct way to do it, than what is currently being done, because the HK government has become so corrupted by the Chinese government, which is the problem in the first place.
