Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89

Blade: Astra Superior Platinum

Soap: Arko Soap Stick

Brush: Wilkinson Sword Brush

Aftershave: Nivea Men Replenishing Postshave Balm

I find the balm terrible, my skin is sensitive and it irritates the fuck out of it. The Arko stick is cheap and does the job, creates a nice and thick lather though some people find the smell to be off-putting. I personally like it, though you can leave the stick out for a month or two and the smell won't be as intense. Astra blades are decent, I find derby to be better for my skin personally. I've recently ordered some feather blades so we'll see how that goes. Brush is basic, is falling apart a bit but wasn't expecting it to last. It's synthetic. The blade handle is great, will last for lifetimes. Has some good weight to it. I especially like the gnurling on the handle, and the inscription at the top that says, "Edwin Jagger". It's a three-piece blade, where the base has the Edwin Jagger logo printed onto it. Excellent attention-to-detail. Easy to clean.

I was always curious to learn about that. Even older, I have my grandfather's straight razors. I never learned how to do it.

I have at least 4 Gillette razor handles - each from the 4 generations of razors' commercials I did for them. We had to model and animate them. Considering how much time I spent making disposable blades look "sexy"... ugh.

I reused the blades until they were dull and I never used soap or the foam stuff. I'm not someone who likes pain, but it wasn't that bad and I got used to it. I used to shave all sorts of neat things into my face. If you gotta, might as well be creative.

Naturally, pun intended, I've had a big long white beard for at least 8 years - before it became trendy. You've heard of bed-head? Well it's important to fluff your stuff or you'll look like a Santa Hobo.

Perhaps you could share your grandfather's straight razors on the site, interesting that you did razor commercials. I stopped using Gillette razors just over a year or so ago, I'm glad I made the switch depsite the learning curve. Saving money is always a plus, surprised you never used soap or foam! My skin is incredibly sensitive and would hate it if I just used water or something. I actually want to grow a beard out myself but it always gets to the point where I'm too lazy to trim it, then it gets all scraggily and before you know it I'm shaving it off lol. I should probably have to look into a beard oil or something.

Before I found safety razors, I used to think the more blades there were the better. But turns out that doesn't seem to be the case, it was why my skin hated it so much because I was shaving with 5 blades going across my skin as opposed to one blade with a safety razor.. and after seeing how much they charge for cartridges, I don't think I'll ever be going back to standard razors ever again. You can buy a pack of like 100 razor blades for 10 dollars, and each blade can last 3 or 4 shaves. The biggest investment a person would be making would be the safety razor itself, and those things will literally last generations.

If you ever feel like shaving that beard off, you should definitely give it a try :)
