I suspect most SaidItors know about and use the /s/All. WotB is disruptive to them, in a generally good way - for now. Ideally they'll learn to branch out and post in topical subs too.

With pros and cons, it's the new folks who won't know about the /s/Subscribed and /s/All situation that the admin imposed upon us without consulting us, as usual. And this is, and always has been, the biggest problem of SaidIt - and is a main reason why SaidIt won't/can't grow.

Honestly, good. As much as I hate socialism, it's good to have more diversity of opinions. 99% of the people here before this are one of the same four things: libertarians, fascists, TERFs, and religious nuts. It gets boring in an echo-chamber, even if it's one I agree with, and it's not good intellectually; it stifles quality discussion. And there's just not enough people on this site in general either.

Besides, Bernie Bros imo are usually honest people, only misguided. The rest of the DNC is all literal tankies who want to turn America into North Korea.

I see why the sub's name can be confusing. To clarify: this is not a socialist sub. It's a nonpartisan sub that generally recognizes the uniparty and its owners as the barriers to better things for regular folks. Here, most see the fight as the 1% vs. the rest (top down), not Left vs. Right or D vs. R.

For a better understanding of this contrary place, take a look at the sidebar. Many here tune Bernie out since he kissed the ring of his good friend addled Joe.

Apparently we all missed it. Every mode of production carries within it the seeds of its own destruction. For capitalism, the need for all these private (sovereign) individuals to coordinate their production efforts is too great and they are forced to cooperate. Human beings are social creatures after all.

This of course inevitably ends up in monopolies; the contradiction is, these monopolies are still in private hands.

To put it another way, if the government simply nationalized the internet, the electricity, the railways, the oil, the trees, and the water, who would even notice? Your day-to-day wouldn't change at all.

The revolution in the forces of production has already occurred.

It's a bit of a spectrum, from government owning the means of production, to the means of production owning the government. I'd argue that the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle with a mixed economy leading to max freedom.

Quick clarifications for what it's worth:

  • primary focus is to fuck over the establishment and its bullshit duopoly. Debates about socialism or any kind of -ism are secondary because none of it matters as long as everything is controlled by the same assholes, whether blue or red. It's top vs bottom first, left vs right can come later. And there will have to be a left again for this to happen anyway, which isn't the case currently. There's nothing 'leftist' about democrats.

  • WotB has never been a "Bernie sub" filled with "Bernie Bros". It was always about the policies (healthcare, infrastructure, education, stopping the wars, throwing corrupt corporatist politicians out, all that) and was aligned with Bernie during his 2016 campaign because those were the policies he pretended to be willing to fight for. Given that he since abandoned all of those policies to instead focus on licking Biden's taint and pushing the BlueTeam™️ talking points, he can get fucked, all the way. That's also pretty much why, when I copied the banner images from the Reddit sub to put here, I kept the crowd and the title but didn't keep Bernie :)

So don't worry about all those misguided Bernie Bros who followed him right back into the democratic party, that's not what WotB is. Besides it's not a monolithic sub either, so if you're hoping for more diversity of opinions, this should fit pretty well :)

From what I've seen, monopolies happen because government powers them. They largely began in the industrial era, the exact time when government started expanding its powers. Reddit can be seen as an experiment; and certainly the admins gave the default mods a monopoly. And, the government itself is a monopoly.

North Korea is such an embarrassment to leftism that the media tries to recast it as a conservative regime. Its horrors are twice as bad as Nazi Germany. It's like if reddit was the government, where you have to constantly fear that you'll say or do something or even be associated with someone who does, and spend the rest of your life being experimented on and doing hard labor. Huh? Of North Korea is conservative, because as a communist country, they're going to follow the sensibilities of their people. South Koreans are just as conservative but sooner or later they'll be forced to conform to the woke mind virus.

The only possible exception to this I can think of is Cuba, they're under enormous pressure from the US sanctions regime so a) they're forced to adopt woke garbage and b) they can't develop their industry.

Beyond that, I would say that perhaps North Korea wouldn't be so paranoid if we weren't literally out to get them.

I can believe that America has committed war crimes.

However, every single person who's made it out of there says it's horrific. They don't allow internet access, dissent, or even religion, and they torture you for everything. You have to worship their supreme leader as God. The elections are coerced and rigged. Everyone but Kim is in serious danger just by existing there, even his own most trusted officials. We can see that they have concentration camps on satellite, despite them claiming not to. They commit unimaginable human rights abuses. Even China is disgusted by the atrocities of North Korea. For some reason the owner re-added the default subs feature that reddit used to have. I don't like it, since it was one of the first things reddit did when it began to fall. But I think the real trouble was with the cabal of mods they appointed over all those subreddits, which isn't happening here (other than the owners controlling certain subs on their own).

It's just not one of the default subs because it historically hasn't been active enough to warrant being a main sub

My guess is that it is the face of saidit when seen for the first time.

"You get one chance to make a first impression." So you put on your best "greet the new people" face.
Once the new people have signed up, then you can tell them about the rest of the place, in which some parts are not for everybody.

I can see the reasoning behind it.

Most of the users long-term users here are using the all tab - very few of the subs have enough activity to act as standalone subs like Reddit.

That's probably a good idea. But anyone coming in fresh without yet making a saidit account (and setting their subscriptions) only gets to see the defaults, presented as "all of saidit."

Unless they know to go to all.

This is so true, i was wondering why their was so much garbage then i notice that subscriptions to all of saidit. Wonder why they do it that way
