I would have expected the Russians to be welcomed as liberators if they truly were saving Ukraine from a Jewish-led Nazi regime. The Freedom Convoy were called nazis too. That seems like propaganda where they're really not trying all that hard.

And I didn't think it was a secret that the US does not want to see another Russian Empire. What Putin is doing is understandable, but so is most of the rest of the world opposing it.

If they didn't want to give Putin justification for rebuilding "another Russian Empire", they shouldn't have continually violated assurances made to Gorbachev not to expand NATO boundaries further east. We almost had a nuclear showdown with the Soviets when they put missiles in Cuba, and yet the West not only blew off Russia's equally legitimate national security concerns but amped up the tensions. This was entirely avoidable if we'd had leaders who aren't hypocrites and sociopaths.

Yeah, Gorbachev got used like a cheap whore. Zelensky said he would discuss neutrality though and it didn't matter. Although it is a real security concern for Russia, I see that only as an excuse. As we see in this conflict, NATO is powerless to act. I see no inherent threat there due to the risk of nuclear escalation. This is plain old empire building, and that leads to world wars.

Disagree.

Everything Scott Ritter has said since this conflict began has been on point and I think that reply to his article is equally as accurate. I absolutely believe Putin did not realize who and what he was trying to deal with for the last 20 years was the pack of Jackals he sees today. Now he understands what they are it makes this the most dangerous situation the world has ever seen.
