As usual, total cringefest on Reddit. Your average redditor has never been in a fight, they're used to movie and cartoon violence where nobody is really hurt. What that guy did isn't much different than the incidents of black men sucker punching innocent bystanders with occasionally fatal consequences.

What that guy did isn't much different

It's completely different, he hit her straight on after she assaulted him. No sucker punch was thrown. The only constant is the skin color of the men you're talking about.

(Excessive force)

(he's not a cop), she slapped him, he slapped back.

He's also not an 85 lb drunk lady, with the slap capacity of a wet noodle.

Therefore the right to defend himself is nonexistent?

That's the issue. He and the rest of us always have the right to defend ourselves, but not the right to excessive assault.

An open hand slap is not excessive. A closed fist punch is excessive, slamming her to the ground is excessive.

She was knocked to the ground. Had she hit her head, she could have suffered paralysis. She barely tapped him.

She was knocked to the ground.

Just goes to show how weak she is and how foolish she was to slap someone stronger than her.

Had she hit her head, she could have suffered paralysis.

All of which would have never happened if she never slapped him first.

She barely tapped him.

Wrong, you're minimizing what she did as you exaggerate what he did as he defended himself.
