yes but you'd need to take a metric shit ton of it to get to the level recommended here. And it's true americans are very low in it. Mainly due to a poor diet. Also less sun, depending on where one lives.

The trouble is most vitamin pills have a tiny amount of the actual vitamin and the rest is all filler which can also be bad for you.
