With the death penalty, I don't understand the expensive Rube Goldberg poisoning machine and electrocution chair and all that noise. It looks like firing squad really gets the job done, swift, on the cheap.

That's true. It wouldn't be as clean looking as lethal injection, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it'd be any more painful. Lethal injection has issues with drugs not always working as intended and can lead to a very painful, drawn-out death for one reason or another. People prefer it though because it looks peaceful even if it's sometimes not at all.

I was going to mention, there are multiple documentaries and leaked footages available of actual botched lethal injections, and the recipients often go through way more pain and humiliation than they would if they were just shot. Death by firing squad is respectful, efficient, and humane. No idea why people seem so opposed to it and still see the injection of unreliable drugs into someone's groin by a medical assistant as a better way to go out.
