Is it possible for beheading to be painless? I'm serious. Some part of the peripheral nervous system must run upward from the spinal cord giving you e.g. sense of touch on your scalp. Where exactly do the nerves in your face and neck and throat branch from? If the cut is high enough wouldn't you not feel it?

The rapid blood pressure drop and extreme shock would make you lose consciousness pretty much right away. Unlikely to have any kind of sense at all.
