I'm pretty sure that didn't kill him but having broken legs and ribs certainly did not improve his quality of life. They probably wrote him a ticket for obstructing traffic.

In this dash cam video, the action begins at the 30 second mark. Cars have been stopped due to a suicidal person on a bridge. The man finally jumps and lands badly. It's not instant death, so the man suffers and convulses on the ground as people watch.
