Someone pulls a gun on me and asks me to swim to England, I'm going to do it. You have to be ENORMOUSLY ignorant to not comply with a police officer's commands while he has a gun pointed at you.

you're a dumbass if you think police should have that power. what you just described is fucked up but you seem to be endorsing the police as being able to do that as a good thing. it is not a good thing. it does not address any root causes which is the police's fucking job. thats why people want the police defunded in favor of social workers. therapy is more helpful to those who need help.

how would u suggest helping them? i mean actually changing the problem. prison does not help address the root of the problem as reoffending is wildly common. our current system is not aimed at reform or at actually helping people but is aimed at revenge as evidenced by your comment.

in America the revenge (and the free prison labor) is the point of prison but it does not help a single prisoner or the general population. they just get out and reoffend.

How would you suggest helping them? How would you break the cycle of a criminal family? locking them up clearly does not work.
