Well, Mom's pregnant. I suspect with a boy this time, so things will work out better for the family.

What are you, anti-boy? That family will need a breadwinner for when Mom is too old to sweep. Don't be hating on male fetuses. Also, on the old subreddit snarkiness was rampant. Perhaps there are snowflakes in your eyes and you can't see. Also, UR Mom. Also, no YOU.

As far as comments I'd like to see when I visit: yours is worse.

Lots of places in Asia had to pass laws to keep women from having abortions if they find out the fetus is female. She was probably watching with one eye and thinking "finally" to herself while she kept sweeping.

Fucking idiot mom surely didn't want to lose all the dust she just spent an hour sweeping up. She seemed the least concerned of everyone that her daughter was just electrocuted. What a shit hole. Sad that a place like this has so little in the way of safety measures a little kid can be electrocuted like that.

Given the woman's lack of mom-freaking-out concern, the little girl was probably a neighbor and not her daughter.

A child playfully walks around, clinging to poles and a machine while some adults clean the area. The child grabs on to a low hanging power line, causing her to get electrocuted for quite a long time. A seemingly pregnant woman finally notices the child being unresponsive. Upon seeing the child still holding on to the power line, the woman realizes what just happened and uses her broom to break the kid's grip on the power line. A passing motorcyclist gets hailed and the man jumps in to take the body of the child somewhere, probably to take her to a hospital.

After the child was gone, adults crowd around the killer power line, recklessly extending their hands to point at it. A few of them got so close it seemed like there were going to be more electrocuted dead people. People wouldn't stop getting close to the power line that others with a bit more sense of survival had to pull them away to prevent more deaths.

I'm pretty sure the parents arrived on the scene at the three minute mark.
Hope she's okay, poor kid, she'd had been alright had she not touched the metal pole :(

So the takeaway is that its ok to have high tension lines hanging practically to the ground as long as there are no metal poles nearby to complete the circuit. TBH, this is probably an everyday occurence.

It's a pretty shitty realisation isn't it? :(

The kid lived btw.

I hope, but apart from the comment on hoodsite, I couldn't find anything to back it up.

Cause that's what a comment said. Pretty sure she's dead after what we witnessed. Heartbreaking video.

The irony is the dude on the motorcycle didn't take her to the hospital but sold her to a brothel.

[–]TealKitten 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

she's still got one shoe she's gonna be okay!

[–]High_and_Lonesome 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Fuuuck. What an idiot. She can't sweep right! Also, that girl could have easily fallen off that ledge and died. So she should have been moved from there before she was shocked.

Fuck, the way she throws her head back is haunting as hell. Hope I never end up going out that way.

Electricity always wants to go to ground . She completed the circuit . Sad

Does anyone know if you would stay conscious for a while after touching that? Or are you out immediately

[–]ImYourChrist 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That greatly depends. I've been electrocuted twice. No serious injury, just some numbness and a shocking feel. It was a damaged lamp and stupid me stuffing things into an electric socket. Learnt how electricity works, the hard way, now I respect it. When we talk about high voltage like train and power lines, those can electrocute you even if you just get close to them and can fry you in seconds. Afaik the most common cause of death is heart failure. How quickly you'd loose consciousness is actually an excellent question.

[–]Red23 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

She gestured at the wires, so I think she was conscious all the while I'm afraid.

[–]sugarallie 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Can we be certain it was a gesture and not just muscle contractions from the electrocution? I wasn't sure about that part either, whether she was gesturing or whether it was just involuntary movement. She seems out cold once she is removed from the wires though... so I think it might have been involuntary :/

[–]Red23 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

For me, she clearly gestured towards the wires as the woman walked towards her. It would have been very coincidental if muscle contractions kicked in at that exact point, and made her hand point towards where the pain was coming from. Totally agree that the poor girl passed out once her hand left the wires though.
